Vision Drum Set

how do i get my drums to not echo so much?
I just got a 5 piece pearl vision drum set with pearl protone drum heads. B4 I got them at guitar center the dude tested out the set and it sounded great but mine leave a long echo everytime I hit the toms. And at the store the sound eneded faster. Will tightening the heads reduce the time the sound is heard?
you should completly retune ur batter heads and reso heads. learning this now will help u in the future its very easy. start by removing both heads by unscrewing the lug nuts around the rim. clean out all the dust and dirt that has collected. put the resonance head back on the shell and the hoop clamp over the head, and screw the lug nuts in with ur fingers only, dont use ur key. go as tight of ur fingers can. start with any lugnut and the next one u should tighten should be the one DIRECTLY across from it, then repeat till all r done. usually this is to loose to get any sort of reverberation so take ur key and tighten each lug nut one whole turn in the same way u did w/ur fingers. take a stick and hit the skin up by the rim near any lug nut. then hit by the lug nut right next to the 1st. if they sound the same good, if not even them out im sure u could figure out wat i mean my that. then keep doing as such until the skin has the same tone at each lug nut point. then tighten in the cross manner like i said b4 but making sure each twist is the same for each lugnut. tune until its the sound u perfer (the reso head should be a slight bit higher than the batter head). then repeat for the batter head. ur drums should sound beautiful after that. if it still has too much ring, buy drum gum at ur local music store, its very cheap, but retuning will help alot!!!!!! any trouble, bcz i kinda rushed through in limmited detail, there are hundrends of vids on youtube that will go into better detail with a visual aid.
