Drum Throw Off

Drum Throw Off
Beginner drummer tips? Playing for a year. Any Tips i should know?

So i was at my local Music Shoppe (that’s how they spell it!) http://themusicshoppe.com Apparently they had some good drum kits and one of the employees is a drummer (playing for 10 years) and he told me a couple things.
1) Electronic vs Acoustic. At gigs Acoustic looks better. But when i’m doing studio i like electronic
2) We’ve got some dudes here that teach lessons. He took me to the studio and i found out where they teach you. Well apprantly the drums they use to teach you are just…. practice pads. So i’m not sure keep looking for lessons or great place?
3) He recommended Pearl ( i’ve heard of it a lot so i took the idea into consideration)

So what do you think?
What advice do you have?
Also technique advice?
And the bass pedal throws me off a lot advice on that if you have,
THANKS!

the best site i viewed as of the moment is the free drum lessons website. every lesson is free and broken into pieces. the videos are clear and downloadable through youtube.com (you should have a video downloader to do this and the output file is flv).
